What makes Wilderness Wedding Barn so special?

It might be the charm of our century old barn or our little log chapel in the woods. It might be the peaceful serenity and majestic beauty of our cathedral in the pines. It might be our historic log Lodge and guest cabins on the lake where your family and friends can stay. Or it just might be our dedicated staff, professional wedding designers and planners who treat every couple as if they are family and who work tirelessly to create the wedding of their dreams.

Whatever it is, we invite you to become a part of our tradition of creating magical, storybook weddings in the woods.

It all began with a dream...

Wilderness Wedding Barn is a family owned and operated wedding venue brought to life and headed by the husband and wife team of Jozsef and Sue Palavics. Sue's love of old barns and her passion for restoration and decorating was the inspiration for the project. Her dream was to create a truly one-of-a-kind venue that offers unparalleled privacy in a woodland setting that is both rustic and elegant, where couples can create their own magical storybook wedding of their dreams.

The project began with finding the perfect property, which they did. Just down the road from their resort, Sue and Jozsef found a 42 acre wooded parcel with a wonderful Norway pine grove. The pine grove would provide an idyllic setting for their wedding venues. The next step was to find the perfect barn. Sue's search led them to northern Wisconsin where she found a 120 year old bank barn built by German immigrants. The barn has rustic hand hewn timbers, wood floors, huge barn doors, beautiful weathered barn siding and a charming wood cupola (Sue's favorite part). Sue and Jozsef  purchased the barn and the old timber frame machine shed that was also on the property.

With the property and buildings purchased, the real work began. Site prep started in June, 2018 with the cutting and clearing of the forest to make room for the barn. The barn and machine shed were dismantled and shipped to their new location and reconstruction began in late July, 2018. In four short months, the barn and property were transformed from an overgrown wooded site to a breathtaking park like setting with charming century old buildings that have been restored to retain their rustic charm and beauty.

The pine grove was trimmed to create an enchanting Cathedral in the Pines with a 100' long center aisle that leads to a rustic vine covered pergola for the ultimate romantic woodland wedding. An old grain bin was converted to an outdoor bar and the old machine shed was reconstructed to create unique luxury Bride's and Groom's dressing rooms and public bathrooms that provide modern conveniences mixed with rustic charm. The final step will be to move their Little Log Chapel from its current location to the top of the hill in the other pine grove for a truly magical storybook setting.

Sue and Jozsef know firsthand that dreams can come true with trust in God and a little hard work and determination. They have made it their goal to help make your wedding dreams come true by providing a setting that is unlike any other, where you are treated like family, and you can rest assured knowing that you have a team of caring professionals on your side.
